New Year’s Day—not New Year’s Eve—has always been one of my favorite holidays. Maybe it’s because I’ve never cared much for the noise and the partying. What I love is the stillness of the morning after.
There’s something sacred about setting a day aside to look back—to honor the year that’s passed, and then intentionally set new goals for the one just beginning.
But here’s the deeper truth—this reflection and intention setting isn’t tethered to a date on the calendar. Any moment we decide to shift direction, we are given the power to begin again.
In the spirit of new beginnings, I return—again and again—to these timeless words:
"Keep your thoughts positive, because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive, because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive, because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive, because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive, because your values become your destiny."— Mahatma Gandhi
Here’s to turning the page—on the calendar, yes, but also in our hearts.
