BIO

Sylvie is a 2022  Silver Medal Winner (Global Music Awards)  for "Broken Year" for Best Alt Folk Song and a Gold Medal Winner for "Roots Run Deep"  for Best Lyrics & Best Songwriting. She was also  a 2018 Nominee for  Best Compilation Album from the Independent Music Awards for "Songs on Peace Street" and a 2017 Akademia Award Winner for "Best Folk EP."  Sylvie is currently a songwriter and producer in the duo "Sylvie & Mandy".  The duo is currently releasing their next single, "End of the Line" in July 2022.
 

Sylvie  took music  lessons throughout her childhood and teens at the Hartt School of Music. Sylvie went on to study classical guitar at the Hartt School of Music and  the New England Conservatory of Music.  Today, many of her original songs incorporate finger-style guitar playing.  She has played in 3 guitar orchestras including the Austin Classical Guitar Ensemble, the Happy Valley Guitar Orchestra, and the Providence Mandolin Orchestra. She was a founding member and guitarist for the Celtic Trio, Celticiy, and the indie folk group, The BeeKeepers.

Sylvie's Songs has over 45,000 song plays on ReverbNation, the world's leading digital music distributor.  Several songs have aired on college radio (70 stations) across the United States.  On digital radio, her songs have garnered over 20,000 spins in the  United States, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, France, Germany, Australia, Switzerland,  and Japan.  "Yellow Flashing Lights" was aired on Woman of Substance Radio's "Me Too" special and  "Pretty Words" was chosen for the National Missing Persons Gina Songwriting Contest.  "Roots Run Deep" aired on  National Indie Radio's "HerStory" and  "Roots & Wings" programs.  "Pretty Words" was also featured on the compilation album, On Peace Street.  She has also been a guest on Indie Talk Podcast.

 

“Indecision” has aired nationally on 66 cable TV channels and was also distributed by Euro Indie Weekly where it was aired on Rtua TV Orvieto (Umbria), Tele Futura (Campania),  ele Radio Sciacca – DTT (Sicilia), Eden TV  (Veneto, Lombardia, Friuli-Venezia Giulia), Tele Vallo (Salerno , Potenza, Matera) and  LaQtv(Abruzzo),   Sylvie's Songs have also been distributed in China on Xiami,  QQMusic,  Weibo,  Douban and WeChat.   Sylvie' Songs hold synch licenses with several major TV networks.

 

Sylvie has performed her songs throughout prestigious New England venues and festivals including SailFest,  Monroe Music Festival, The Rose of New England Music Festival, The BreadBox Folk Concert Series, Friday Night Folk, The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts Center, The Vanilla Bean, The Chestnut Playhouse, Fire in the Kitchen, The Ridgefield Playhouse, Cafe Nine Sunday Matinee Buzz Series, and The Bing Performing Arts Center. 

Sylvie lives in the music capitol of the United States, Austin, Texas, known for it's amazing, eclectic folk music scene and progressive culture. She is a member of the Austin Classic Guitar Ensemble and owner/instructor at Amazing Strings Academy.  Sylvie is married to Tree Fortin.  She enjoys spending time with her family and hiking, camping, & kayaking in America's great natural parks!  She is also volunteers for local animal rescues.

Sylvie Abate is a 2022 & 2019 Global Music Awards Gold & Silver Medal Winner for Best Lyrics, Best Songwriter, and Best Alt Folk Song. She is an accomplished songwriter and a multi-instrumentalist who writes, arranges and produces original music influenced by Americana, blues, classical, folk, and pop.  Sylvie plays classical guitar, acoustic guitar, ukulele, bass, and banjo. Sylvie owns and operates Amazing Strings Academy and enjoys teaching classical guitar.
