Sylvie's Bio

Sylvie is a 2022 & 2019 Global Music Awards Gold & Silver Medal Winner for Best Lyrics, Best Songwriter, and Best Alt Folk Song. She is an accomplished songwriter and a multi-instrumentalist who writes, arranges and produces original music influenced by Americana, blues, classical, folk, and country.  Sylvie plays classical guitar, acoustic guitar, ukulele, bass, and banjo. 

About Sylvie

Sylvie is a highly accomplished musician and songwriter with a deep passion for folk and Americana music. Her talent has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations, including a Gold Medal for Best Lyrics and Best Songwriting, as well as a Silver Medal for Best Folk Song from the Global Music Awards in 2022. She was also a 2018 Nominee for Best Compilation Album from the Independent Music Awards and a 2019 Akademia Award Winner for Best Folk EP. Most recently, her song "End of the Line" was selected as the 2022 Best Song of the Year by Indie Talk Podcast.
 

Sylvie's love for music began at a young age, and she honed her skills by studying classical guitar at the prestigious Hartt School of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music, where she earned a bachelor's degree in applied guitar. Today, she incorporates finger-style guitar playing into her songs, and she has played in three guitar orchestras, including the Austin Classical Guitar Ensemble, the Happy Valley Guitar Orchestra, and the Providence Mandolin Orchestra. As a founding member and guitarist for the Celtic Trio, Celticity, the indie folk group, The BeeKeepers,  and the Americana-folk duo, "Sylvie & Mandy,"  Sylvie showcased her unique songwriting craft. 
 

Sylvie has performed her music at many prestigious venues and festivals throughout New England, including SailFest, Monroe Music Festival, The Rose of New England Music Festival, The BreadBox Folk Concert Series, Friday Night Folk, The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts Center, The Vanilla Bean, The Chestnut Playhouse, Fire in the Kitchen, The Ridgefield Playhouse, Café Nine Sunday Matinee Buzz Series, and The Bing Performing Arts Center. 
 

Beyond her music, Sylvie is a passionate advocate for animal rights and an ethical Vegan. She is the founder of Artists & Activists for Animal Rights, a groundbreaking Austin-based organization that combines art and music to help suffering animals and the planet.  She is also a Regional Organizer for Connect for Animals. In 2024, Sylvie will be releasing her first animal rights song, "Apathy (I Want Your Heart to Break Like Mine)" on the AAAR Record Label!

Sylvie resides in the heart of Austin, Texas, renowned as the music capital of the U.S. Brimming with a dynamic art scene and boasting myriad live music venues, it's a city where urban vibrance meets the serene allure of nature. Sylvie is married and has 3 kids, two lively Bichon's and a pair of curious ferrets. When she's not teaching or playing guitar, Sylvie immerses herself in the world of songwriting. Beyond her musical pursuits, she finds solace in the great outdoors, indulging in camping trips and long hikes!
